Hello lovelies,
I was gone longer than intended. Sorry about that but I needed a break. Thank you for all your lovely comments.
I have been making these...
...they're to go in my shop. I'm particularly pleased with the Log Cabin one in the top pic as it is my own design. The bottom one is just simple squares joined with double crochet but I think it is very pretty. I have sewn the crochet panels onto ready made cushion covers and they look very nice.
I have a couple more to show you but haven't taken photos yet.
Okay, a little question for you. If you were buying a crochet cushion, would you prefer to also have the back crocheted? I like to buy ready made cushion covers and sew the crochet panel onto the front but have a little niggly feeling that I'm cheating. The added bonus of this (apart from having a ready made zip) is it tends to eliminate stretching of the crochet. Please be honest, I can take it, I promise!
I have decided that in future my blog is going to mainly feature my crafts and the things I am making/have made with maybe just a few family stories thrown in. This is because I don't want to spend hours on the computer anymore. I would rather have more time for...crochet/chocolate/coffee/crafts. Oh wow, I do like things that begin with C, don't I?
I have to say a huge congratulations to Alicia and her husband Andy, who have adopted a gorgeous baby girl. They experienced heartache last year when a previous adoption fell through at the last minute. I'm so happy for them, that little girl is going to grow up in a house filled with love.
Back soon with a patchwork post.
A huge welcome to my new followers. I hope you enjoy my blog. ***HUGS***
Ps. Just wanted to apologise for adding the comments thingy (can't remember what it's called). I know it's a pain but I was getting inundated with spam. Hope it doesn't deter anyone. xxx

Gorgeous cushion covers ...and I have to say I like them best just how you are making them :-)
ReplyDeleteHuge congrats to your friends on the successful adoption...such and exciting time.
Hugs,
A x
Wow! I LOVE that top cushion, it's gorgeous, but the other is fab too. I shall be making a new cushion soon and I've already bought the ready made cover to sew it to, I don't consider it cheating at all, just making things easy for myself. Congratulation to Alicia and Andy, I shall pop over to their blog soon to welcome the new arrival.
ReplyDeleteI love the second one - I think it's the colours. I understand what you mean about blogging - I've stopped as it just wasn't for me anymore. I'll continue to read my favourites though!
ReplyDeleteHi Emma, lovely cushions covers. I think that is a good idea to attach the crochet to a ready made cover. I have mainly done crochet backs but not that happy with how they seem to "lose their shape" when in use so I might just pinch your idea.
ReplyDeleteIt is indeed wonderful that Alicia and Andy have their gorgeous little girl after last year's heartbreak. Can't wait to see photos of her in all the beautiful dresses.
I know what you mean about blogging. I must admit I haven't been reading and commenting as much as I used to, never mind writing! Takes up time when I could be "doing". If blogger was a bit quicker uploading photos I'd perhaps do more posts but it is often a frustrating experience.
Looking forward to seeing your patchwork.
Have a lovely weekend.
Carol xx
Very pretty.
ReplyDeleteGlad your back. I love bothe your cushion covers but the first one is my favorite. I'm making a baby blanket in a similar pattern.

Hi Emma,So lovely to see a post from you,I love your crochet cushions, theyre beautiful.Enjoy all of those things with the 'C's.take care love julieXxXx
ReplyDeleteHi Emma, good to have you back. Love the cushion covers and I don't think it's cheating as you can get some nice, soft and tactile covers to cuddle as well as having the prettiness of the crochet on the other side. Sam xx
ReplyDeleteHi dear Emma, You know I like crochet cushions so so much. And you have made wonderful crochet cushions.. Really they are beautiful.. I must stop my lazy days and I must return to crochet cushions again..:))
ReplyDeleteAll best wishes..
Love your crochet cushions ,the colours are gorgeous and i dont mind the backs either way xx
ReplyDeleteYour crochet work is beautiful Emma, so neat and you use gorgeous colours. I dont think it would bother me if only the front were crocheted.
ReplyDeleteLovely to see you back! I like these new cushions. Personally I think it's a good idea to have a fabric back. I've made a couple of cushions with wool on both sides and they mishape quite easily. Jx
ReplyDeleteI think its nice to have the crochet attached to ready made cushion covers because it gives a softer smoother side as well as the texture of the crochet. From a making point of view its an excellent idea. I don't know why I haven't thought of it. I am hopeless at sewing especially zips and this would be a way for me to make cushions without the stressful bit. xxx
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cushions :-). The oppositon of light and dark colors on the first one is fascinating!
